His idea was to attract trendy models and stewardesses into the neighborhood by jazzing up this unassuming beer joint. Single-handedly, the perfume man turns this modest location an instant success. He called it TGI Fridays™

The concept of Thank Goodness its Fridays®, America’s first casual dining chain was first opened in Manhattan at First Avenue and 63rd street and featured the same red and white striped awnings and the signature name that was to best describe a feeling for generations to come.
